The first time I tried golden milk, I was hooked. If the gorgeous color and invigorating aroma aren’t enough to entice you, the sweet, slightly spicy flavor should do the trick.

Golden milk drink powder can be found in a variety of brands at your local natural foods store (maybe even the big guys are carrying it these days), but part of the magic behind this healing beverage is making it yourself.

Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant-rich, immune-boosting, and revitalizing–the benefits are almost endless. This is an amazing brew ANY time of the day! If I’m drinking it in the morning, I’ll add some hot coffee to it (umm to DIE for).

One of the best parts about golden milk is how easy it is to make it your own and still end up with a tasty result. You can use any kind of milk you like or have on hand. I like it best with almond because I think it compliments the spices nicely. But this is also delicious with coconut, cashew, or cow’s milk.

Same goes for sweeteners. Keto? Use Swerve. Paleo? Raw honey. Vegan? Pure maple syrup or agave. Sometimes I skip sweetening altogether, but I like spicy drinks!

Golden Milk recipe | Serves 1

-1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric

-1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

-1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

-pinch of ground cardamom

-pinch of freshly ground nutmeg

-pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

-12oz (1 1/2 cups) of milk of choice

-1 1/2 teaspoons sweetener of choice

Combine spices at the bottom of your favorite microwave-safe mug. Pour in milk and stir well until combined. You can also use a milk frother! Microwave for 3-4 minutes until nice and hot. Add in sweetener if desired. Enjoy!
